There are eleven primary schools and three secondary schools that serve communities which border the Firth. The Port engages with them when it can, to ensure we play a part in educating the future workforce and encouraging the sharing of environmental information.
Great Big Firth Beach Clean
Six local schools joined in 2017s ‘Great Big Firth Beach Clean’ as part of the Marine Conservation Society’s Great Big British Beach Clean. This is double the number from 2016 and includes one of the secondary schools.
Volunteers from the Port will be delivering litter pickers, gloves and rubbish bags and we will collect all the rubbish at the end of the day. Every pupil participating in the clean received a ‘Guardian of the Firth’ badge and ruler to remind them of the event and the importance of keeping our Firth clean. (Volunteers don’t have to feel left out – you can have these too if you would like.)
